In the not so distant past, video games were primarily being played in arcades and in a limited number of consoles. When a game was released on a console, it retained all of its arcade-only features, such as the array of buttons that made up an arcade cabinet. For gamers who just wanted to have fun with their friends in an arcade setting, they would have to go out and buy their own gaming system. Nowadays with home consoles dominating the industry, it's easy to find old games from years ago for sale. These games can be found at anywhere from $0.99 to $30.00 each. According to GameStop's website, they have somewhere around 40,000 games in their systems and 45% of them are available for download and buy and download and trade with your friends. The internet has opened up a whole new world of gaming for everyone, not just the hardcore gamers that wanted to play arcade-only games that they could not afford to buy on their own system. Burnout Revenge was released on the Playstation 2 as one of Sony Computer Entertainment's first games for North America only as a pack-in with the system itself. This game was developed by Criterion Games. It was released in 2004, it is the sixth game in the Burnout series. Burnout Revenge is a racing game that places emphasis on high speed races and vehicular combat. It features several cars to choose from; many of them are modeled after real ones. Another great feature to the game is that you can race online against other players via System Link or even connect to other PlayStation 2 users via cable or satellite internet connection. This game also has customizable license plates for each car (except for the Ambulance, which has injuries in its place). The game also features a two-player split-screen mode and a single player mode in which you start with a low performance car and can unlock other, better cars by winning races and finding hidden "Burnout" billboards scattered across the city. Also, in the single-player mode, there are several characters mentioned in the dialogue of the game. They include: Stevinson is an Irish character who likes to race you for money (he will call you on your cell phone if he has something for you). He is based on an Irish bartender called Stevie who lived near the office of Criterion Games in Teddington, England. the character moves his mouth but he is never heard speaking. He's one of the few characters who can be bought, and his price varies depending on the type of vehicle you have. Sadie Turner is a woman that was trapped in a burning building, but her eyes are still intact and alive, giving her good vision. She is based on an American astronaut who was sent into space because of her eyesight. Sumner Fagen is often seen driving around with his girlfriend named Skye (who was made out of mud). He enjoys hanging out with the other Burnout players at Union Square (he also seems to be one of the few characters to not like pizza). eccc085e13
